In the early 1980’s Gage Davis Associates was retained by Tokyu Group to evaluate the existing Mauna Lani Bay Hotel and Resort master plan that was initially prepared by Belt Collins of Honolulu.  The assignment was to  make recommendations with respect to the 3,200 acres of property, the resort hotel facilities and identify future expansion  and development opportunities.

To date, many of the early recommendations have been  accomplished and Gage Davis Associates played an on-going role in the planning and design of many additions.  These include: expansion of the original 18-hole golf course to 36 holes (with expansion potential for another 3 golf courses); golf clubhouse and practice range expansion; the Racquet Club and Fitness Center; expansion of the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel  to include five new beach Bungalows;  the Canoe Restaurant; The Orchid at Mauna Lani Hotel; the Point Estates at Mauna Lani; the Cape at Mauna Lani; the Beach Club; Champion Ridge at Mauna Lani; Hale Ola Kino Beach Club and 49 Black Sand Beach; the Shops at Mauna Lani; the Villages at Mauna Lani, as well as overall circulation, landscape and signage recommendations.
