Northwest Landing comprises 3,000 acres of property near Dupont in Pierce County, Washington. A major portion of the property was purchased by Weyerhaeuser from E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Co. that had manufactured explosives there for over 70 years. A major challenge in the master planning of the new community was the need to address the toxic site cleanup requirements and integrate the property into the overall master plan for the new residential community and major office park.
Gage Davis Associates worked in conjunction with Calthorpe Associates to master plan the new community and design the golf course to rectify the previous toxic site issues and become a recreational centerpiece to the community.
Today, Northwest Landing is well on the way to housing over 15,000 people who will live, work and play there enjoying a project that is a model for new community planning, historic preservation, and site reclamation. The “Home Course” has become the “Home of Golf in the Northwest” and was the site of the 2010 US Amateur Championship, assisting Chambers Bay.
